Difficult day

Little Anne’s day was very active, but also difficult for her. Her sedation meds are now down to 1 med which caused her to awake a little more today. Anne’s muscle tremors and spasms were a little scary, but suggested that she is moving forward. She probably became a little too stimulated and it caused her to vomit twice. LORD, please be close to our little Anne and heal her.

More active

Anne is much more active this morning. Even without reducing the sedation meds, she was opening her eyes about 1/4 instead of 1/8 yesterday. She is also tensing her muscles in her arms and legs and shivering. The movement could be a reaction from the meds and from the brain trauma. The docs say these are good signs and they plan to reduce her sedation meds again today to see how things go. I am not sure that the movements are purposeful. We should keep praying that God will heal her brain.

Rough morning

Anne’s morning was rough. The doctors have re-intoduced her sedation meds – at a much lower rate than before. She just wasn’t quite ready to wake up yet. But she’s almost there. They’ll let her rest a few more days and then try again – probably weaning her yet again over the weekend sometime.

We covet your prayers for Anne’s brain to heal and the swelling to go down completely. We continue to trust in God’s faithfulness and goodness as we wait for Anne to let us know when she is ready to wake up.

Anne responds!

They’re continuing to wean her off the sedation meds. So far she’s responding well.

I’ll share one exciting thing… I (Kathryn) brought my sweet friend, Tracy Bunch, back to see and pray for Anne. When I started talking to Anne, she opened one eye and looked right at me. I then walked to the other side of her bed and her one eye followed me. She then opened both eyes to look at me. I told her to fight, because she is a fighter! I talked to her for a while, and then told her to close her eyes and rest. She immediately closed her eyes! She still obeys her mommy :-)

Now, Eric wasn’t here and is by nature skeptical ;-) But I have both Tracy and Anne’s nurse as witnesses. So hopefully, with two witnesses, he’ll believe me!

Please pray that she’ll continue to respond well to the reduced sedation meds. God has sustained her today. We are so grateful.

Kathryn

Please pray…

Through the night the staff battled some low blood pressures, but now has been able to keep Anne within a quiet range. This will hopefully give her a couple more days to let her heal before waking her up.

Pray:

  1. she does wake up and God will be praised because of it
  2. any loss of function will return quickly and God will be praised because of it
  3. that our little family can know God’s pleasure and joy through this journey and understand that He is working out His good plan through this difficulty
  4. Anne would somehow experience the fullness of God’s joy through this process
  5. that we would know what to pray

Not ready yet

Well, it doesn’t look like Anne was quite ready to come off her sedation meds. The last 4 hours has been quite a battle to get her back in positive ranges. Her little body just didn’t tolerate waking up just yet. Anne has always been so sensitive! We will let Anne lead and tell us when she is ready.

A positive is that she is slowly beginning to utilize the food from the feeding tube that was put in yesterday.

Pray that the right side of her brain heals quickly and that the swings in brain pressures has not negatively impacted her brain.

I am continually amazed at how God’s people are praying! We have been so blessed by all of you in this journey. Every need of ours has been so quickly met. You all are putting flesh on Gal 6:9.

Good & Bad News

I (Kathryn) got to spend an extended time at the hospital with Anne today. I prayed this morning that God would encourage me today. He answered that prayer:-)

Eric’s life-long friend Howe who lives in Princeton, NJ flew down for the weekend and attended the early morning prayer service for us and then stayed for church. Howe is like family to us, so it was very meaningful for him to meet some of our church family in Atlanta.

I had many sweet friends visit in the hospital today. Last night was volatile b/c they dropped so many meds, but today she remained relatively stable. But most encouraging of all was… her pupils responded to light; I saw her cough, and lastly, she lightly squeezed my finger. I would say that God answered my prayer – abundantly!

So when we met with Anne’s neurosurgeon, and he said he had both good and bad news… I was prepared. God had shown me throughout the day, that He is our good, loving Father, and I can trust Him.

I’ll let Eric describe the good and bad news. He’s better at the technical stuff than I am. Basically, the good news is that the left side of her brain appears healthy. The bad news, is that there is ambiguity regarding the right side of her brain. So we wait…

Thank you for waiting and praying with us. I’m going to sleep :-)

Please pray…

We are upon a new phase in Anne’s journey. . . .Now that the initial swelling has reduced, the sedation meds that have produced the drug-induced coma have been dramatically tapered back. Therefore, Anne will begin the slow process of waking up over the next 7 days. Now it is a balancing act of keeping her sedated enough for healing, and letting Anne lead in how quickly she can handle the reduction of the pain and sedation meds.

Pray:

  1. she does wake up
  2. her loss of function will return quickly
  3. that our little family can know God’s pleasure and joy through this journey and understand that He is working out His good plan through this difficulty
  4.  Anne would somehow experience God’s joy through this process
  5.  that we would know what to pray

1st Post

As many of you know, Kathryn Jackson (Mother), Anne Jackson (5 year old),  Canon Jackson (7 year old) and Kate Jackson (3 year old) were in an Accident on April 13th at approximately 12:05 pm.

Anne suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Childrens Health Care Of Atlanta Scottish Rite. Canon and Kate were also injured and taken to Scottish Rite with stable injuries. Canon and Kate have both been released from the hospital and are recovering at home.

Anne is currently in ICU and is critical but her vitals are stable.  They are monitoring her closely and carefully.

It is expected to be a long recovery and hopefully your prayers will shorten the recovery a bit.  Please pray for Eric and Kathryn’s strength and Anne’s healing.

It was reported that Bystanders at the scene said they prayed for the Jackson Family and the prayers from all of you have continued.

Marc Jackson (Eric’s brother)
